Truck drivers all over the country are being honored this week as part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, including Shaker’s drivers. The company celebrated its hard-working drivers at a variety of events this week, including cooking breakfast and dinner for them and sending them home with some special gifts. NTDAW is organized by the American Trucking Association to formally recognize the efforts of more than 3.5 million professional truck drivers, who deliver more than 70 percent of all the nation’s freight.
Shaker Logistics has 50 drivers in its transport division. Some of the company’s drivers are based out of Lakeland, Florida, but the majority are based out of Waterford or Syracuse, N.Y. Drivers run over-the-road for several weeks at a time, regionally with routes that have them home most nights and every weekend, or locally with daily routes that get them home every night.
“The transportation industry is critically short on drivers and without them, our economy grinds to a halt,” said Megan Fagnani, people and staffing manager at Shaker. “We’re so appreciative of our fleet and are actively working to enhance their work environment and experience.” Shaker has been actively recruiting new drivers and improving its pay and benefits package recently.
